Bonus Codes Updated, SIM Card Reader details

The TracFone bonus code list is up-to-date once again. I didn’t add any new codes this time since I haven’t found any new codes in a whlie. But I updated the “most recently used” column for many of the codes, confirming that they are still working. You can find the most current TracFone Bonus Codes here.

Also, in a previous post I described an inexpensive SIM card reader that I found. Well, I’ve used it a couple of times now and I must say that I am very impressed with the value that I received from this $3.63 purchase. I opened the package, installed the software from the included CD rom, and followed the directions from there. It took just a few minutes and I had copied my entire phone book from my old SIM card to my new one. I’m very happy I didn’t need to copy them all using the phone keypad – it was money well spent. You can also use the device to input new phone book entries using your computer keyboard.

So if you want to copy your phone book from your old SIM to your new SIM, I definitely recommend this device. Here, again, is a link to the item.

EDIT 7/31/08 – In response to Ortizmro’s comment, I tested the reader on both my PC’s – one Vista, one XP machine. It worked fine on both, following the included instructions. Ortizmro, thanks for calling that to my attention and for all your valuable contributions!

  1. Interesting (the SIM card reader). What operating system (Windows XP, Vista)do you have? It seems like Win XP is OK, but users of Vista might have problems with this. That’s a shame – this looks useful to me, but I have Vista at home…

  2. Will this work with the Tracfone W376g Sim Card. I have about 140 numbers from work I need to enter and was trying to find an easy way.

  3. I just tried 56617 it was expired, also 50722 it was expired, 53322 worked with a 60 minute card and get 60 minutes free. Thanks for your time in collecting these codes so I don’t have to. Karen

  4. YEAH I did it the code 53322 just worked for me I used a 60 min. card, have the DMFL and got the 60 bonus minutes total of 180 min!! Thanks for this site you just saved me big $$ and these days we need all the help we can get! So Code 53322 still works as of 8/11/08 7:34 New York time!

  5. pbushx2- I received my SIM reader and was very disappointed that is did not work on three machines and with two different phones (one Tracfone Moto and a Net10 Moto). BUT…reading a post at the suppliers site, I found a link to an updated driver and also a different and seemingly more robust SIM software called GSM SIM Utility 5.15 (freeware). It works like a champ! If ordering this SIM reader, look over the posts on the order page for the info. You can totally bail on the supplied software and use it just fine. FYI, it really is lame software supplied with poor docs.

  6. Pat;
In reference to the simm card reader,

Can you make any comments on the Version limitations as stated on the Dx site. To make mention that it only works with a Version one card.
Are all Tracfones using just Version 1?
And off the that subject, in your vast amount of knowledge, do you have a reference and cross reference of all tracfone models batteries.
And if not, does the w370 and the w376 use the same batteries?
Thanks for your continued support for the tracfone scene.

  7. Can someone help me? I can’t seem to find this new driver or program. I am trying to upload the W376G with 140 phone numbers.

  8. I tried the card reader but it said card error when I tried to read it. I didn’t want to mess up my W376g card so I stopped. Any advice would be appreciated.

  9. I tried it again and reading the Sim card the software from the disk crashes. I also tried the GSM SIM Utility 5.15 and it reads the card but shows no entries read and I have about 10 on the card in my W376G.

  10. Just wanted to let everyone know the bonus code for 300 minutes on a 1 Year/400 min. card works as of 8/31/08, code 53018. Because I bought the card when it was on sale at Target for $94.99, and I have an LG600 with double minutes, I ended up with 1100 minutes at 8.6 cents a minute, or since I use my phone mostly for texting, about 2.8 cents each SMS message. Not bad.

  12. Hi Rich
That’s really odd. I’m sorry to say I’m unable to help with this one – it worked fine on my computer, so I don’t have any experience with the problem you’re having.

  13. I figured out one problem. My current phonebook was on the phone and not the sim card, hence the blank sim card. Do you know how to import a text file into the sim card software?

  14. Any help?

  15. I don’t know about importing text files, but I know that you can open up the phone book from the SIM card, and enter using your computer keyboard. I don’t remember if cut/paste worked in that manner or not, though.

  16. Hi pbushx2,

I got the sim card reader you reviewed. There was no info read because all my numbers are currently stored on the “phone” and not on the sim card.

If I choose to store the numbers on the sim card, I lose the icon identifying the number. Right now I have two entries for each person, one home and the other mobile. The home phone has a home icon and a mobile has a mobile icon.

How do I get around this other than putting “Norm home” and “Norm cell” when using the sim card?

    Am I missing something?

  17. How about posting a fix for the “write error” everyone seems to be getting when using a LG600g tracfone and trying to connect photos with contacts?

    • Hi Ted,
I’ve posted about this before, and the answer isn’t an easy one. Basically, ifyou want to avoid the write error, you have to make sure that your contacts are saved to the phone and NOT the SIM card, and you also need to assign a photo for ALL contacts. The write error pops up if you add a new contact, but don’t assign a photo. The next time you try to create a contact WITH a photo assigned, you’ll get the write error. I think, but I could be wrong, that the only way around this once you’ve received the error is to erase all contacts and start over again.

  18. I use Tracfone, and would like all info possible.
I got a T310G phone, and having a tough time getting it set up,How do I set up the Date, time etc?
    Thanks
    Sid

  19. Hi Sid
Sorry I’m so late in responding. Did you figure this out yet? Your time and date should be updated automatically once the phone is activated.
