Thanks for stopping by. This is my first attempt at a blog. My primary purpose here is to comment on new developments related to Tracfone, especially how to save money on Tracfone . I’ve been a Tracfone user for over five years now, and have purchased, activated, and switched between too many Tracfones to count. I currently maintain service on my own primary phone as well as the phones of 6 friends and family members, and the occasional “experimental” phone.
Sometime during 2007, it occurred to me that I know more about Tracfone that just about anybody I know, and I thought that I could share this knowledge with other Tracfone users. So I began to organize and record everything that I know on the subject. When I was finished, I had 25 pages of text, which I then decided to sell on eBay as an ebook.
In addition to this ebook, I also do my best to share information with my customers that help them to get the best deals on new phones and airtime cards. I hope to update this blog regularly to share those deals with my readers.
I’ve also moved beyond TracFone recently, adding commentary on Net10 and Straight Talk phones as well.
Please check out my other posts.

do you have a contact page? I couldn’t find one.
do you know anything about the market for used tracfones?
i’d imagine that some people get one, then decide to switch to a contract phone, yet still have minutes on their tracfones.
i just put a net10 phone on craigslist. service expires within the week but it has 600 minutes, so if someone were willing to put up with my old number and the nokia 1100, then this might be a good deal for them.
i’ve decided to switch from net10 to tracphone (just got the w370) because the service lasts longer. a 300 minute net10 card is good for 60 days and costs about 30.00. sure, that’s 10 cents a minute, but it’s 15 dollars a month.
tracfone cards cost 20 dollars (ok, you’re paying 33 cents a minute, but with DMFL and a bonus code, that number goes down to almost a dime) and they last what, 190 or 120 days? at my usage rate (less than 50 minutes a month) i’m not paying for minutes, i’m paying for days. and i’d rather spend 20 dollars every three months than 30 dollars every two months.
I am so glad that someone besides me gets the value of tracfone.
I buy one year of service and w/double mins and bonus mins wind up with 1000 mins, and one year of service which works out to about 8 dollars per month. and I can hardly use all the minutes. So I see it as what ever works. I purchased my first tracfone in 2004 and have stayed with them thru multiple phones, their phones are very reasonable, and with a lot of changes with their growth there aren’t the problems that existed when I first started with them.
So all in all I give them an “A” for their service and that incluses customer service, they are always almost too polite, and work very had at solving your problems what ever they are.

hi I just added dmfl on my tracfone using the code on your web site the code was DMFL 100 Min. 54969 I updated my phone on 4-4-08 thank you for your site
hi I wanted to thank you for your website I just up dated my tracfone to DMFL and with your website I got a 100 mins bonus I updated my phone on 4-4-08 with this code DMFL 100 Min. 54969
I am interested in the motorola w376 but it is not available in my area. Will this phone work in my area? Can I still activate the phone in my area?
Hi Larry
To see if the phone will work, go to the TracFone Coverage Map
Then enter your zip code, and look at the right side of the screen. If the W376G is listed there, then the phone will work in your area. Also, coverage is usually slightly better than what is shown on TracFone’s maps.
Also, if you know anyone that has AT&T (Cingular) or T-Mobile service in your area, the W376g will work wherever the AT&T or T-Mo subscribers get service.
Know of any promo codes for ringtones or wallpapers at the Tracfone ringtone store?
My 10 yo son bought an activated Motorola C-139 Tracfone at a garage sale today ($3). Only has 5 units left, but service is good thru Oct 2008. Before I buy more minutes, I want to know if the phone has “double minutes for life” (DMFL). Is there a way of telling on the phone itself? Can Tracfone tell me if I give them the IMEI number? If the phone doesn’t have DMFL, I might just set it aside and buy a new W376 for $50 with DMFL alreading installed. Thanks for your input!
Follow-up to my own question: I called Tracfone customer service this morning and found out my son’s phone does not have DMFL. So I purchased 2 new W376 phones with DMFL for $50 each from their website; one for son and one for me. The information you provided on your blog confirmed my decision to switch from verizon ($0.40 per minute) to tracfone ($0.10 per minute). An apparent no-brainer for most, but not for this low-tech Mom. Thanks!
P.S. Tracfone said that I can keep my verizon phone number and they will handle the cancellation of my verizon account. All I have to do is call them when I receive my new phone. Pretty easy, eh?
Thanks to net10 guy, too. His discussion of the advantage of tracfone over net10 for his needs was pertinent and succinct.
I was curious to know if you knew exactly how many ringtones you can download onto the LG 600 from Tracfone? The LG 225 would only let you download maybe 3 if you were lucky. For the price you would think it would let you download as many at least as the Motorola 376.
Thanks
Hi Bobbie – I don’t think that there’s any practical limit on the amount of ringtones you can fit on the LG600. It has plenty of storage. The storage is shared among the photos, ringtones, and voice recording, though.
Also, keep in mind that for some reason TracFone won’t let you download mp3 tones from Trac’s online store. You can get ringtones from other sources (such as other websites and/or friends with ringtones), though, and add them to your phone via bluetooth.
Thanks so much for this website! I’ve been using a Tracfone C139 since last December when I left Verizon. Downloaded your ebook right away — now I finally know how to retrieve my Tracfone voice mail from my landline phone! That alone will be a big savings! I’ve wanted to get a little nicer phone than the C139 and was disappointed to see that you don’t have a review of the LG 225, but I read enough about it elsewhere that I ordered one with the package deal you suggested, and it should arrive Friday. Used to have an LG VX4400, which is a very nice phone, with Verizon. I have no complaints about Verizon — I just don’t use cell phones enough to warrant paying $42 a month and up.
Keep up the good work and I look forward to reading your blog.
Does anyone know how you download pictures from the lg 225 tracfone camera to your computer? My neice has one and we can’t figure it out.
Thanks.
Hi Carol
You’ll need to email the pictures from your phone to another regular email address. I’ve never done it on this particular model, but someone else posted instructions for doing so with the Motorola w376g, here:
http://pbush14.wordpress.com/2008/07/15/motorola-w376g-tracfone-review-part-2/#comment-925
Maybe those instructions will help you figure out how to do accomplish the same with the LG 225.
Keep in mind that it will cost a unit or two from your airtime balance for each picture you send.
Great website – just joined – due to a friends recommendation. Two things – how do you purchase the cards at a discount?? I see people on ebay selling the cards for 5-10% less than tracfone plus they have to pay the ebay and paypal fees while earning a profit. All told, they must be buying them at least 20% off to put them out for these prices.
Secondly, there is a 20-30% rebate available on live.com for ebay buy it now purchases. Go to live.com and once there enter gift card in the search area and ebay should appear telling you the current discount. I just bought several airtime cards on ebay and got a 30% rebate so I was quite happy – you might want to check into it and add it to your site for other members to receive the pricing
Hi Kerry
I think that all of the eBay sellers purchase the cards directly from TracFone in combination with a phone. I refer to these deals as “bundle” deals. You get the phone PLUS the airtime card, for the same price or less than the airtime card alone would normally cost. These deals change fairly often. At the moment, the best deal out there is an LG3280 phone + a 1-year, 800 minute, Double Minutes for Life card, all for $100. The card ALONE usually costs $140, so it’s a pretty good deal. You can find more details about this deal here:
http://supercoupons.wordpress.com/tracfone-800-minute-deal/
Do you happen to be on twitter?
I have a twitter account, but I haven’t posted anything there in 6 months or so.

I just got a tracfone lg 100c and I can not figure out how to lock the keypad. Can anyone help?
I was thinking about switching to tracfone after my contract with at&t expires next month. I use less than 200
minutes a month. I didn’t see you mention it on your site, but the larger minute prepaid card you buy, the less it
costs per minute. On the tracfone web site they offer a 1500 minute 1 year airtime card for $199.99. This would
only cost about 6.7 cents a minute if you had a phone with double minutes. It would cost even less per minute if
you used a promo code to get extra free minutes. Here is the cost per minute breakdown of the airtime cards
tracfone offers on their site (assuming that the minutes double).
$9.99 30 minute & 30day = 16.7 cents per minute
$19.99 60 minute & 90day = 16.7 cents per minute
$29.00 120 minute & 90day = 12.5 cents per minute
$39.99 200 minute & 90day = 10 cents per minute
$79.99 450 minute & 90day = 8.9 cents per minute
$99.00 400 minute & 365day = 12.5 cents per minute
$159.00 1000 minute & 365day = 8 cents per minute
$199.99 1500 minute & 365day = 6.7 cents per minute
Is anyone having problems with their NET10 phones not getting minutes added that have been purchased and paid for online. I purchased 200 minutes on Friday, 2-5-10 and never received them. I tried all weekend to get through to customer service and was unable too. I got through tonight and was told that their system says they were added. I NEVER RECEIVED MY MINUTES but my card was charged.
I will be reporting NET10 to my local Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau and the FCC. They took my money and wouldn’t give me my minutes.
My advice is to stay away from NET10! They take your money and give shoddy service.
Beth, I’m very sorry to hear about your problems.
Try turning your phone off and then on again – this sometimes helps “force” the over-the-air updates through to your phone. Make sure you’re doing this in an area where your phone has service. Can you make a test call? Call your home phone, and see if it rings. If you can make this call, then your phone is indeed still active in Net10′s system. Don’t worry, you will get your minutes.
If you still don’t have your minutes, I would suggest calling their “executive resolutions” department, which is based in Miami and staffed by very capable, helpful employees. 1-800-876-5753. Explain to them, calmly and politely, the problem. They should be able to help.
If that doesn’t work, your letter to the better business bureau will certainly get their attention.
Also, please be assured that this is NOT a common occurrence. Net10, like many large companies, doesn’t always have the best customer service. However, they are not trying to steal your money – there’s no way they’d be as big and popular as they are if they routinely operated like this.
I called the number you gave me. Within 5 minutes I had my minutes added. They even told me what the problem was. It seems that my phone needed to be reprogrammed. I just punched in a few codes that they gave me and ‘waalah’ I had my minutes.
THANKS FOR THE HELP.
pbushx2, Thanks for the deal codes, just got my motorola 326g. Found your site by googling the phone model and up popped your informative site. Just wondering if you know where I could find an instuction book for the phone? The one from net10 is pretty basic and doesn’t explain very much
Larry
Hi Larry
There actually is a downloadable manual, which I wrote about a while back –
http://pbush14.wordpress.com/2009/09/02/motorola-em326g-instruction-manual/
Hi, pbushx2 — I have had a lot of trouble trying to get started with tracfone. I bought one of their phones in a local store (candybar type, I forget the model number). It quit working after a few months, so I exchanged it with them under warranty. They sent a different model, a flip phone, Motorola 376g. It was a “reconditioned” phone. The first time I tried to add minutes to that phone it did not work. After a lengthy call with tech support, entering numerous “codes” into the phone, indications were that I finally had minutes and service days on the phone, in exchange for my $20. However I never got to make a single call — that second phone, too, has broken down under warranty. After finding this blog I bought an LG290c phone, using a ZIP code that I got off a blog entry. I may have misunderstood, but I thought you said a person can get the network they want using that method. However, the LG290c will not activate. I suspect this is because the old phone on my account is a “g” phone and not a “c”. I chose the “c” phone for two reasons: (1) the phone models being offered to “g” network users were clearly inferior models a few weeks ago, and (2) I spend time in remote rural areas and want the coverage of the Verizon network. Can you offer any advice as to how I can avoid losing the $20 I spent on a minutes/service days card that got added to a phone that never worked after the addition, and/or the $50 I just spent on the LG290c?
Amy
Hi Amy
Unfortunately, it sounds like a call to customer support might be in order here. However, don’t use the “regular” customer support – there’s another department with people that are more experienced in customer service, called “Executive Resolutions.” I would suggest you get in touch with somebody there, specifically somebody named Elston, if you can. You can find more info about that here:
http://pbush14.wordpress.com/2009/08/30/tracphone-support/
I am looking for a manual for the LG290C. I did not get a decent hardcopy with my new phone. and i like having a book i can look at periodically. can you help me?
Al,
Try this link http://www.tracfone.com/Common/English/Digital_Assets/13459.pdf
I have an issue with my LG 225 cellphone. I cannot enter my full above email address into my contacts. The phone will accept all but the m in com. Do I have to create a shorter email addy?
I want to send a few pictures to my computer, and I am sure TF doesn’t give us the option to do this without emailing the images.
Ah, the joys of Tracfones…
Thank you
Hi
I’m a current tracfone customer, with a $10.00 K126. I’m thinking of upgrading to a camera phone, but I wish to have a way of hooking to a computer to transfer pics. Can you tell me what phones from tracfone have that capability. My son has the LG600G, which I read your review about, but that does not show up as available in my area,14715. Thanks for your reviews as they should be very helpful in my search.
Hi! I appreciate the wealth of info on your site! But I have questions which I do not see the answer to (so far!), and hope you can help.
I’m currently using a Tracfone Motorola V170, which still has several hundred minutes on it that are valid through later this year.
I have bought a new Tracfone LG 410g with DMFL on ebay. This phone is not yet activated.
I would like to transfer the V170′s phone number to the LG 410g. I know that both phones are GSM, but having never done this before, I am confused about the following items:
1) Do I need to delete or “wipe” the old phone before activating the new one? I am assuming (but I might be wrong!) that once I de-activate the V170, I will not be able to delete stored contact & message information on it.
2) Once I activate the LG 410g (which I would do on Tracfone’s website), I assume I am then starting fresh with an LG 410g that has my V170′s phone number, but does not have any of its stored info.
3) If there *is* a way to import my stored contacts to the LG 410g, how would I do that? I’ve had no luck finding a user’s manual for the LG 410g online.
Thanks in advance, and for your phone reviews which are very helpful.
Sara,
Here is a link for the manual
http://www.tracfone.com/Common/Both/Digital_Assets/12651.pdf
Gary, thank you VERY much for the LG user’s manual! That is a huge help!
Any thoughts on item (1) above — do I have to delete all my info from the Motorola V170 *prior to* de-activating it? Or will the info still be available for deletion even after the phone itself cannot be used to make calls?
Again, thanks very much!
Sara,
I am not familiar with the V170 but I am sure the contact list will stay on the phone when it is deactivated, and you can wipe it clean whenever you want.
Gary, great! And again, thank you very much for your help with all of this; I greatly appreciate it!
Sara,
Let us know if things turned out OK for you.
I haven’t activated new phone yet, but based on all the info you have provided, I feel confident about proceeding!
UGH….I love this website; it has been incredibly helpful. But am still overwhelmed trying to choose a phone.
I finally had it narrowed down to the LG290c but then it doesn’t look like it will work in my area. I live in central PA and coverage can be spotty even with Verizon. I use the phone for all my LD so use medium amount of minutes–sometimes a couple hundred a month. I sometimes text but not a lot. Sound quality is important–getting older, hearing not as great.
I’ve grown to like having a camera but it’s not necessary. I see that some (cheaper?) phones have radio reception which would be great but not necessary. (I spend a lot of time walking dogs in fields/woods so it’s nice to listen to NPR when I can pick it up. (for now I take my iPod with podcasts.)
Like everyone else I am looking for cheap–I am one of the many unemployed at the moment. So initial outlay is a consideration.
Does it help going to talk to local sellers to be sure about coverage?
I ruled out straighttalk but am not sure about Net10. Tracfone gets best rating from Consumer Reports.
I truly appreciate any ideas, suggestions or considerations.

Great site! Thanks!
Is there any way to turn off the annoying Tracfone jingle that plays when the phone is first turned on? It’s really obnoxious and really irritates me and others around me whrn I turn my phone on.
Thanks for any help!
Tom
Hi Tom
I’m not sure which model exactly you are talking about, but you can try looking in the settings menu, probably under “sound settings.” There might be an option to turn off the “power on/off” tone in one of the submenus there. If not, what you could try to do is to turn the master volume to zero before turning the phone off. This way the tone will not play either when you turn it off that time, or the next time when you turn it on. Just remember to turn the master volume back up after the phone turns on, so that you hear any incoming calls.
Hi ppbushx2:
My phone is a Motorola W376g. Sorry, I should have told you that in my first email.
As suggested, I tried to fine looking in the settings menu for some option to turn off the power on/off sound but could not find anything like it.
I then tried to set “silent” under “ring styles”. That silences the jingle, but as you said I have to remember to turn it on again when I get past the jingle.
I have found that I can lower the volume to the “vibrate” level or “silent” options using the volume rocker switch on the left side of the phone BEFORE I turn it off. That eliminates the annoying jingle. However, I do have to rocker back to the ring option when the phone is fully on.
I had hoped for a way to just eliminate the advertising jingle (and even the TracFone” screen!) on start-up.
Oh well, it’s not as bad as the three screens of music and ads for Motorola and Verizon my wife has on her Verizon phone.
Despite the obvious value in using TracFone, some of the things they do are really irritating!
If there is no way to disable the jingle, thanks! The work-around you suggested is viable.
Love your work – keep it up!
Tom
Whats the story on the Straight Talk Motorola Razor V3A phone? Its on their phone availability page but I can`t see how to order it? Has it been released yet? Have you got your hands on one yet to review? Please advise.
The razor was one of the original Straight Talk phones, but I think they’ve pretty much phased it out as they’ve added new phones. I never used that particular model, but from what I heard the Moto w385 was better. Now the way to go seems to be the LG 220c or 290c, or the Samsung r355c, depending on what features you’re looking for.
WHEN WILL YOU BE REVIEWING THE TRACFONE LG420G?
Hi Barry
Today is the first day in about 9 weeks that I’ve sat down to “work” on my phone hobby, due to a relocation and trying to sell my old house. I have the 420g on my desk now, and hope to start reviewing it this week, then publish the results next week.
Want to subscribe to this site by email.
Hi Jacob
I’ve added your name to the list. You’ll have to confirm your subscription by clicking on a link in an email coming from “feedburner,” which is the company that handles the list.
Hello Pbushx2,
Can you relist the number of the tracfone rep stateside that can help with problems. You can email it to me if you wish. I added airtime and was credited with it and now tracfone is not honoring it. Have contacted the number listed on their website with no satisfaction.
thanks,
Ken
Hi Ken
Here’s the info you’re looking for:
http://pbush14.wordpress.com/2009/08/30/tracphone-support/
Don’t know if you can help me out, but i read your blogs religiously and i got nowhere with tracfone on my little problem. perhaps you have some words of wisdom!
my daughter has an LG225. Last night when she went to bed her phone had 550ish minutes. when she woke up this morning her phone said “reading sim card” and she only had 180 minutes!
we can’t see how many minutes were used on each call only when they were made and to whom. but no calls were made or received at all that night and no text messages either.
i contacted tracfone who would only say that if it was phone problem all the minutes would be gone. since only part of her time was gone they have no explanation and won’t do anything to help replace them.
my daughter has to pay for these minutes herself and she has to make them last till march so i know she would not go thru that much time in one night!
any ideas of where to go from here for some satisfaction? have you ever heard of this happening before? it has not happened on my or my husbands phones and they are the same. i am just totally baffled and not at all happy with tracfone.
this is the only info i have from the recent calls setting:
2:55 dialed calls
1:23 received calls
4:19 all calls
Thanks, Donna
Hi Donna
This sounds like a problem with the phone more than a “TracFone problem,” although certainly some blame lays with TracFone for having a system where they rely on the phone to track minute usage rather than doing it over the network. Anyway, I’d suggest you first read these two posts, then use the info in the second post to get in touch with Elston to see if you can get your minutes back. I don’t think it’s too likely, unfortunately, but if anyone can help you it’s Elston:
http://pbush14.wordpress.com/2008/09/24/emergency-preparedness-and-tracfone/
http://pbush14.wordpress.com/2009/08/30/tracphone-support/
If you get an email from StraightTalk about a survey with the subject “Important Message from Straight Talk Wireless”, please take the survey and make your voice heard that you do not want them to get rid of the $30 plan.
The survey asks you to rate these from 1 being the most important, to 3 being the least important:
Web
Text and Picture Message
Voice
Then you are asked if they were to get rid of the $30 plan, which option would you go with:
a) 500 minutes, 1000 text, I think 30 mb of web (can’t remember that part) for $25
b) 1,000 minutes, text I am don’t remember, but it was either 1,000 or unlimited, and web, I don’t remember, for $40
c) For $45, which I believe were the components of the current $45 plan
d) None of the above because you will cancel your service.
The next page then asks for your gender, age range, and income range.
Unfortunately, regarding the link to the survey and the email, here is what is stated, and it is true, because the link now just redirects me to straightalk.com: “This link is uniquely tied to this survey and your email address; please do not forward this message.”
What do you know/think about Net 10′s new LG 900G?
Dan
Refurbished phones available at StraightTalk:
Hi. Question: one of your early posts mentioned the phrase: “if you don’t mind a refurbished phone.”
Can you expand, ST does a special or two on refurbished phones here and there. At least one is available in my area. Pros and cons? And I might, well, will, like to ask maybe a few followup questions about them, such as specific models. Right now I am looking at LG and Samsung refurbished models. Not all are in the same zipcode, it varies. Can I ask the general comment and then move on to LG 290c and LG220c specifically? Thanks very much!
Hi Mark
Every “refurbished” handset I’ve ever bought (and I’ve bought them from all three sister companies – Straight Talk, Net10, and TracFone) has appeared to me to be brand new. The only difference is they come in white cardboard boxes instead of shiny plastic clamshell packaging.
I’m not really sure what it means to be refurbished, other than that they are no longer in original packaging. I think it could be that they were returns from customers, but as I said, all those that I’ve tried looked brand new. I would think that customer returns would show at least a little wear and tear.
Another theory I have is that they were used for testing (quality control) in the factory, and never saw the hands of consumers.
Whatever the case, I have no reservations about recommending purchasing a refurb (in fact I often do so myself).
Thanks for letting me know.
This one came in a white box, inadequately packed and had been bounced around, but it works…already had a phone number from some far place so I called and asked if when activating they would give me a new local number, they said yes. So I’m going to activate…wish me luck!
Well, a day or two after I responded, the phone quit. Wouldn’t take a charge at all. Checking the paperwork, of course what I paid for was a time card, not a phone, so replacement was no option. I’d say forget “reconditioned” phones at any price if it is “free.” If they sent a drained battery, forget replacing it: the quote for the battery for the LG220c was $46.00 before shipping and taxes!
Hi Mark
I think there is something on those white boxes regarding a warranty, so you might be able to follow up on that.
Also, can you tell me the battery model number? I might have a spare I could send you.
Thanks, wish I could but I got tired of looking at it feeling I’d been had, so the boxes are gone and the phone donated to a re-cycler. Anyway, it was so poorly packed, no way to tell if it was battery, circuitry, bouncing around all those times while in Fedex, or what. So thanks for the offer. All else making Slim a rich man, be warned about recycled.
I am converting from Verizon to tracfone. I bought a T301G a couple of weeks ago. I do not like the sound quality and the ringing tone is not loud enough. After finding a suitable phone, I plan on buying two more and converting our present cell numbers for my wife and me.
We are senior citizens and basically only need a phone to communicate when we are separated in a store or area. I like to take a picture once in a while, but it does not have to be of fine quality.
My choice is a flip phone and have been reviewing on the web, the 290C and 420G. We have Verizon flip phones now.
What do you think of the above two phones or is there something better we can purchase? We do not mind paying for a good phone.
Johnny
Hi Johnny
I’m really sorry I didn’t respond to your post sooner. I hope I can still be of help to you.
I would recommend the LG 220c or 231c for a flip phone. The 420g is also a good choice. These are all quite basic phones, but they will work well in terms of reception, audio quality, battery life, etc – the basics. The 290c is also a very nice phone, but it’s a slider rather than a clamshell design (same thing with the LG 620g, which I really liked). I would suggest you stay away from the Samsungs as well as the Motorola w408g.
Also, before you select any phone, I’d encourage you to read this article about the two different types of networks used by TracFone:
http://pbush14.wordpress.com/2008/03/16/tracfone-cdma-vs-gsm/
Pbushx2
I had not seen a response so I had not checked back in for a while. I finally looked again today. Thank you for the response.
I have not purchased the new cell phones since I just returned from mainland USA and was testing the reception of the T301G. It worked well. I live in Hawaii.
Now, I am looking over the details of the two you mentioned, the LG220C or 231C. The web said the 231C was the successor to the 220C. Now, I am leaning towards that phone and the 420G.
I will make my decision in a week. We still have our Verizon cell phones. I will probably terminate it at the end of March.
I bought the new LG500g Trafone with the qwerty keyboard today 5/7/11. Very happy to get a qwerty. Also happy to have the MP3 player. Bought a micro-SD card to load all my music too. Bad thing about phone is that it only comes with an electric power cord. You will have to load your music onto the micro card with your computer since you won’t have a cord to send it directly from your conmputer to your phone. I’m also having a little problem changing the color of the text on the main screen. Some how i set it to green and now I can’t get it changed to black. Any help would be appreciated.
For the price it is a good phone. I’ve had Trqacfones for 9 years and love them.
try this link Mary.

I got a USB A-to-micro (90degree) cable from TigerDirect.com for $3.00 (not incl. s&h)
and it works perfectly for transfering MP3 and Java app (.jar) files to the 500g.
Nice in depth trac blog. Excellent participation.

OK, is there any way I can send an Email to you (Pbushx2) that DOESN’T show up on this site?
Thanks very much for your website; you are saving us money!
TracFone Cutomer Service: I had been a TracFone, Net 10, and Straight Talk customer for over a decade. A little over a year ago I relocated to another city and had no land line phone. I switched over from Net 10 to Straight Talk and their unlimited $45 @ month plan. A bit over a month later, the phone became defective, (battery) would no longer accept a recharge. Straight Talk told me to return the phone to them and they would ship me a new replacement. I could not be without a phone for the 10 days to 2 weeks it would take to get the replacement phone shipped back and reactivated. I went to a local Metro PCS store, purchased one of their phones and in less then a half a day, they had my old number “ported” and my phone activated. The cost between Straight Talk and Metro PCS for unlimited talk, text, etc was only $5., $45. vs $40. Over a year has past, my situation has changed and I no longer need “unlimited” service from (any) carrier. I decided to return to TracFone, purchased a new LG290c phone and called TracFone Customer Service to get my old TracFone phone number “ported” back from Metro PCS to Tracfone and therefore activate my new phone. TracFone Customer Service said it could take between 2 to 10 days depending on their difficulty getting my old phone number released and “ported” back to TracFone. Guess what? In less then 2 hours, my new TracFone was activated, my old phone number “ported” an additional airtime minutes card loaded too. Most of the time, TracFone only gets (bashed) and gets negative feedbacks that get posted. I have to admit I too have experienced lengthy waits and some difficulties at times with their Customer Service. I felt it was necessary to Post “positive” feedback about TracFone and give credit where credit is due. TracFone coverage is superior to almost any other cellular carrier regardless if your on either a GSM or CDMA system phone. Ask any Metro PCS customer about coverage once you leave a major city (metro area) and attempt using their phone in the suburbs, no coverage and no free roaming either. I apologize for the lengthy rant but felt TracFone deserved some well earned praise!
Hi. I don’t believe this is the right area to ask this, but have you ever encountered a situation where your phone won’t turn on and if you plug in a charger the charging indicator on the front of the phone flickers? I have a Motorola w376g. And I have been checking out your blog for some time now. Quite informative. Your work is appreciated. Thanks.
Oh, and any chance Tracfone will come out with a phone that has a pop out qwerty keyboard like the Samsung T404G from Net 10?
Turns out it needed a new battery. Thanks.
How do you send and SMS with NET10 service using SKYPE local number to another country?
Got a Skype number local to me and am able to call another country with it. However, I can’t send SMS and the error message says: Need 10 digit number or something like that.
Anyone able to send SMS to other countries with NET10 or Skype?
