There are currently 4 different TracFone models available that include double minutes for life. Since these are all the top of the line phones, in many cases you will be able to upgrade your phone AND get double minutes for life for LESS than the cost of a double minute card alone. And if you decide to upgrade your phone rather than buy a Double Minute card to add to your old phone, you’ll benefit in two other ways: 1) when you activate the new phone you’ll get 20 minutes and 60 days of service added to your phone; and 2) if there are bonus codes that are limited to one use per phone, and you’ve already used those codes on your old phone, you’ll be able to use them again on your new model.

4.B. TracFone LG 3280 plus double minutes PLUS 800 Minute PLUS 1 year of service, all for $99.99
Also, as I’ve mentioned before, it is now easier than ever to transfer a number from one TracFone handset to a brand new phone. It can be done, in most cases, via TracFone’s website in a matter of minutes. Here is the info on how to transfer your current TracFone number to a new TracFone.

I’m not completely sure, but I think that 53322 still works with the 450 minute card. Unfortunately, TracFone has not been very generous with codes for this particular card. I’m not sure why.

Does anyone out there have any idea how to purchase the one year cards at a discount. I typically see ebayers selling the one year card with 400 minutes for $85 or less, which is a great deal but since they are paying $5 for fees and earning a profit they must have found a way to buy them for much less. Any insight would be appreciated.
Hi bigbigtuna – I can’t say for sure, but I think that the people that sell the actual airtime cards are buying them direct from TracFone in the package deals that TracFone.com usually offers. For example, currently you can find an LG 225 plus a One-Year card for $99 total. So, I think (I could be wrong) that they are buying the bundle deal, splitting up the phone and the airtime card, and selling them separately. I think that’s about it. If there’s more to it than that, I feel like it must be something kinda shady – something I wouldn’t want to mess with personally. If there’s a better non-shady way than what I’ve described, I don’t know what it is (or I would certainly give it a shot myself)!
p.s. bigbigtuna – Here’s a recent post I did about some of the package deals available on TracFone.com –

Looking for good zip codes that will offer Moto W370 DMFL @ $19.99
I don’t think that the phone alone is offered at that price in any zip codes currently. It looks like your only options are to get the w370 and a 1-year, 400 minute card (minutes will double to 800) for $99.99; or you could go with the w370 plus 450 min card (also will double) for $79.99.
Or, if you just want the phone, you could consider the w376g for $10 more.
These deals are available in most zip codes.
I just got the 19.99 phone w/ 60 minute card and it says it comes w/ a bonus 60 code, I “think” I have DMFL on the phone, I recently changed phones and followed your very helpful info to take my number and transfer it to the new phone, will I still have DMFL?. is that on the SIM card?.. I hope it is! thanks for all your very useful info!
Hi S. Carolina – unfortunately the DMFL feature sticks with the phone, NOT the SIM card.
I just purchased a 1 year 400 min.card. Looking for good bonus codes.
Hi there,
I bought the LG 3280 a few days ago, and not be activating it for about a month. It looks like the DMFL, the 800 min. and the year of service are all on a card and not tied to the phone, so they could possibly be used on any tracfone you choose? Also, I’m hoping that I can activate this CDMA phone in my central FL location, (zip 34476) even though I used the SD zip you suggested to order it. I know it’s a single rate card so roaming charges shouldn’t be an issure (?) I’ll let you know how it works out when the time comes. Thanks for all the valuable info and please keep up the great work!
Otis – you are correct on all counts: the card can be applied to any phone you choose, the phone can be activated in your area, and you will only pay one unit per minute of talk time, wherever you use the 3280.
Hi! My wife bought me a DMFL card from Walmart for Xmas (without asking my advice) to add DMFL to my current Tracfone Model 2126 phone. She paid $49.98 for it and when I told her we could get a new phone with the DMFL for $20. less we were sad… Tracfone customer service said we cannot get a refund or trade and Walmart won’t accept a return of the card.
Any suggestions on how we can get the value (or any value) for this card and still get the new W376g phone I want? Looks like I’m going to be using my 2126 for awhile longer now unless anyone has any ideas…
Thanks!
Richard
Hi Richard – The only thing I can think of is to sell the card on eBay – looks like you could expect to get $35-$40 after paying fees and everything. (Craigslist might also be an option for selling the card). That would be enough to cover the cost of the w376g.
One thing to keep in mind, though, is that the 2126 is a CDMA phone, meaning it uses Verizon’s network (and Alltel and US cellular, in some areas), while the w376g is a GSM phone on AT&T/T-Mobile networks. So your coverage might not be exactly the same if you do make the switch. Especially in rural areas, CDMA networks tend to have a little better coverage. If you do keep the 2126, don’t feel too bad – it’s a favorite model of many TracFone users, much beloved for its durability, good sound quality, and excellent signal reception.
Just a heads up on DMFL cards. My son had a W370 that we had purchased a DMFL card for a year ago. We upgraded his phone to a w376G which comes with DMFL. He transferred his leftover minutes and number to his new phone and I got his old phone. When I activated and added some minutes I expected it to still double the minutes. It didn’t. When I called Tracfone, they said the DMFL transferred with the minutes and number. When I explained the situation, they put the DMFL back on the W370.
Hi,
Any thoughts on the w260g phone?? I currently have the LG225 but the one feature I miss from motorola is the ability to go to speakerphone directly by pushing the right soft key during a call. If you want to switch to speakerphone on the Lg you have to hit the right soft key for options and then hit another key for speaker on. I won’t miss the camera as I carry one all the time anyways. Thanks!
Hi again Pepper I think that the w260g is decent for a basic phone, if you use it only as a phone. Some people have commented that the menu layout is confusing, or the keypad isn’t that great, or that the predictive texting is poor. While those may be major issues for some, I think that the w260g (as well as it’s candy-bar style counterpart, the w175g) provides very good voice quality at a decent price. And it should be very comparable to the LG 225 in terms of signal reception, based on my testing.
im buying a w376 soon, i live in a small town, does that zip have any effect on the double minutes. i heard of some replies about using a bigger city zip. please help i want to do it right the first time thanx
The great create value by charging a lot for something that you are giving away for free on something else. Anyone buying a DMFL card is making a mistake usually. The CDMA areas are stuck a lot of times and cannot buy a phone that comes with DMFL. I bought a CDMA LG 200 with DMFL for $18 at Walmart the first week in January.

I am not sure if this is a new deal or well known one because I am new to the Tracfone scene but this phone is an incredible deal in my eyes.

Walmart has the Motorola W175 phone bundled with DMFL for just $9.88 but it looks to be only available online or at least it is not available in my area. The phone already came and I really like it as a nice starter phone for my wife and I.
One thing that I have found from ordering phones from Wal-Mart is that their zip code phone finder isn’t accurate. I think I’ve ordered four phones from them that “said” they worked in my area. When I tried to activate them, I found out that they won’t work here. What’s even more annoying is that I purchased a phone at a Wal-Mart that is 30 miles east of me, in the same state, and it also wouldn’t work in my area. I did find that they will take the phone(s) and cards back.
I purchased the $18 bundle with DMFL at a Fargo Wal-Mart (30 miles west) and that works just fine in the area. This past weekend, I saw they had a $9.88 Kyocera with DMFL. I bought it because I was “thinking” it came with a DMFL card but I was wrong…
Poor memory on my part I guess. I had thought I’d save the card should any of the new fancier phones become available in my area. I may just keep the cheaper phone as a back-up. (I haven’t activated it yet.)
My mom had purchased a refurbished phone from the Tracfone website that came with a DMFL card. I was able to find her one of those $5 clearance phones at Kmart and she used that card on the clearance phone. I am thinking it was the exact same phone too. She wanted one like my dad’s so that they wouldn’t have to buy any additional charging cords.
From what I understand our area is CDMA-only. (No AT&T, etc.)
Hi Kimberly
You might want to check out this article from a long time ago about the differences between CDMA and GSM. It might help you determine which phones will work best in your area:
