Do you know anything about getting ringtones for this phone. The first one I got from tracfone.com only cost me 8.97 minutes..now everytime I look at them they cost 29.90 minutes.
Downloading Content (Ring-tones and Graphics)
The unit charge to purchase and download content is determined by the last air-time card added to your TRACFONE. In addition to the one-time unit charge to purchase and download content, there is always an additional Mobile Web Access Charge of 0.5 units per minute of access. The total Mobile Web Access Charge will vary depending on the size of the content and the actual time it takes to download the content
So, there ya go. The cost varies by several factors like was your last airtime card a 60 minute or 300 and so on. I just checked several ring-tone cost for my W370 and they were from $1.99 to $2.99 by Credit card or 11.94 to 17.94 minutes deducted. The W370 as all new models from Tracfone now have the data port crippled. You cannot use your Computer to load ring-tones, wallpaper or backup and restore your phone book.
You CAN email ring-tones to the W370 via your PC as an attachment but they have to be .midi format. You CANNOT email .mp3 ring-tones.
You CAN also email pictures/wallpaper as an attachment too provided they are in jpg format.
I am in the process of determining whether or not the address book with names and numbers can be backed up and restored to The W370 by means of a Sim Card reader/writer.

After reading the rebate I noticed it saying something about not already having an account and purchasing a new account. If I already own a tracfone but would like to purchase this one for a family member, can I still get the rebate?
Hi CJ
Others have reported receiving their rebate despite this language. The wording appears to be “boiler plate” terms and conditions that Amazon uses for all Cell Phone rebates. Because the phone will have service as soon as you activate it, you will meet the terms of the rebate, according to others who have received the rebate.
Hi Deo
It sounds like you’re in a CDMA zip code – i.e. TracFone does not offer GSM service. Here are a couple of posts that might help you find another alternative:
I have an existing problem with my W370 Motorola Tracfone. Everytime I choose to add units to my phone, they do not appear even within five minutes or even an hour. I have to then call the Tracfone service line, and from there they have me type in a bunch of numbered codes into the Code Entry Mode of my phone. It’s getting tedious especially when I have to listen to some foreign person say about 50 numbers to me. Ugh, I just want to know if Tracfone would be willing to send me another phone that will work when I put units on it. I regret ever buying this phone.
Hi whadd101
This DEFINITELY sounds to me like a problem that is unique to your phone, and NOT all W370′s. I think that TracFone would be willing to replace the phone for you. Have you tried calling them to explain the situation and that you are not a happy customer at the moment? If not, I would recommend trying that. You could call the regular customer service number, or you might also have better luck with “Executive Resulotions,” as the people in that department seem to have more authority to solve problems quickly. That number is 1-800-339-9345.
Well, I’ve been trying to buy a W370 bundle for days with no success. I get to the final Submit and it gives an error indicating the credit card can’t be verified. It’s not a problem with my card. I tried many times, different browsers, different computers, different cc’s. All w/ the same result. So I called Tracfone and they also tried to do the order for me with the same result. Obviously they are using the same order interface as us customers and are equally clueless about what the problem is. I even got a call from my cc warning me of possible fraud because of so many authorizations from the same place in a short period of time. So I know that authorizations were issued, but TF’s order system is buggy and can’t complete the transaction. Another clue is the Grand Total for the order is not correct. It seems to subtract the shipping twice (free shipping offer), so the total shows up as either $95.04 or $92.04 depending on whether the 23444 promo code goes thru.
Over the weekend the rep said it would be fixed in 24 hrs. Yesterday they told me they’d get back to me in 2-3 days! I’m running out of time, since my current TF will expire on 12/08. But I think I read that you can still transfer unused minutes after deactivation, right? How about the old number?
I might have to give up and buy a W376g on sale at Circuit City for $28. I don’t use a cell very much, so the W370 is good enough IF I can actually buy one. Hopefully all the promos will last a little longer until when/if I get a new TF.
Mike – this sometimes happens if you’ve placed many orders from TracFone using either the same credit card or the same address. This is TracFone’s way of preventing people buying in bulk for the purpose of reselling the phones and/or airtime cards at a profit. While I understand their desire to protect their business interests, it is extremely frustrating. Worst of all, they never explain to current or potential customers that this limitation exists.
Actually there is a message on the first page of the shopping cart (just after the buy accessories page) with this message displayed in red.
My only purchases have been one Nokia 1100 in 2006 and one airtime card in 2007, so I surely don’t qualify as a bulk buyer. So maybe their buggy system doesn’t recognize this, and kicks it out after authorizing the credit card and gives a bogus message!
Also, when I tried to buy over the phone, the CS rep read that message to me and I even explained exactly what I mentioned above. But she and her supervisor don’t know any more about how the system works than I do (actually THEY don’t, since 3 different reps tried to do it).
So they do give ample warnings to bulk buyers, but this occasional buyer is still SOL with 6 days left on his original Nokia 1100 & the clock still ticking.
Hey, maybe I should have my wife try! Different name, but same address and credit card.
I have the w370 and the w376g. I noticed that when I send a text message to my email account from the w370 I’m charged 1 min. but if I send the same message from my w376g it only charges me .30 min. The w376g message comes in as a txt.att.net message but the w370 come in as mms.att.net message. I can’t get it to send a sms (text) message to my email only mms. Any answers to this problem.
Do you know how many phone numbers this phone at amazon can hold up to?
Thanks
Hi Jim
The W370 has a capacity of 250 phonebook entries.
Do you know anything about getting ringtones for this phone. The first one I got from tracfone.com only cost me 8.97 minutes..now everytime I look at them they cost 29.90 minutes.
Miss E.
Sorry, I don’t know anything about ringtones for this phone – maybe someone else will post a comment about it, though.
I ordered this deal. I got my phone 2 days later. It does come with double minutes for life. Thanks for letting me know abou this great deal!!!!

does the phone come with any minutes?
Any Tracfone activated on the web (an easy 5-minute process) receives 20 minutes and 60 days of service.
as of 6/26/08, this model tracFone is “unavailable” from AMAZON and will NOT work in my zip code area 12540…..
